About Us

Amara was a buyer with Neiman Marcus for 14 years.  She travelled extensively, bringing small mementos from home that would remind her of her children, 11 and 9 years old.  During the summer holidays she realized that many children leave for camp without space to pack their reminders of home.  The camper's footlocker was a logical canvas to showcase a camper's name, while expressing their passions, and memorializing time spent designing with mom and/or dad.  Thus, My Painted Trunk was born!  A whimsical vehicle to bring home a little closer to camp.  Amara hopes that the daily visit to the trunk brings a smile to your camper face with the warmth of a hug from home.
